 Someone did an awesome job putting this together and with sound to boot. At the very end of the video you'll hear the song ' Thunder Road ' sung by the star of the movie for which it was the theme! Not uncommon except this is the one and only song ever recorded, for publication, sung by Robert Mitchum! Cars we drove in the 50's and 60's  http://cruzintheavenue.com/CarsWeDrove.htm

The following is the poem that Jane Greenberg Nyce planned to read at the Northwood event but we ran out of time:

                                                50 YEARS POEM

FROM NORTHWOOD WE GRADUATED 50 YEARS AGO,

TONIGHT WE REFLECT AND THINK ABOUT WHAT WE NOW KNOW.

SOME STORIES WE TELL, BLOW BY BLOW,

HOW SIMPLE LIFE WAS, WE DIDN’T KNOW IT THOUGH.

BOYS, GIRLS, GIRLS, BOYS, WHO WOULD BE OUR DATE?

FOOTBALL, TRACK, BASKETBALL, WHO WOULD BE CHAMPION OF THE

        STATE?

WHAT WOULD BE OUR FATE?

SOCK HOPS, SLUMBER PARTIES, GRADES – FOR SOME OF US!

WOULD WE GET THE CAR OR WOULD WE HAVE TO RIDE THE BUS?

PICKING THE COLORS, GIVING THE YEARBOOK, PAPER AND TEAM

   A NAME.

NO CLASS AFTER US ABLE TO GO TO WILLIAMSBURG, WE WOULD

  TAKE THE BLAME!

MISS LYNCH, WHO TAUGHT US HISTORY WITH A FLAIR,

MISS MACADOO, ABOUT EACH STUDENT SHE DID CARE,

MRS. JORDAN, A SUPER TEACHER, HARD, BUT FAIR.

THE MEMORIES WE CHERISH, SO MUCH TO SHARE,

THE FRIENDSHIPS, CLOSENESS OF OUR CLASS, SO RARE!

WHEN WE GRADUATED, WE WOULD GO, WE KNEW NOT WHERE.

THOUGH TO DIFFERENT PLACES WE WENT,

OUR LIVES TODAY HAVE THE SAME BENT

IN OUR MINDS OR DONE IS RETIREMENT,

AND TRAVELLING ALL OVER FOR EXCITEMENT.

FAMILY, ESPECIALLY GRANDCHILDREN, A PRIORITY.

EVERYONE WOULD DEFINITELY AGREE.

AND, WE WON’T MENTION, WE’RE PUSHING SEVENTY!

A SPECIAL THANKS TO THE COMMITTEE,

MORE PARTICIPANTS THAN EVER, THE WORKERS-BE,

KEN’S WEBSITE YOU ALL DID SEE,

AND FROM AARON AND STUDENTS, A DVD!

 THE COMMITTEE ENJOYED REMINISCING ABOUT THE PAST,

THEY LAUGHED TOGETHER, JOKED AND HAD A BLAST!

RENEWING FRIENDSHIPS, IT’S THE NAME OF THE GAME,

WE HOPE FOR YOU THAT IT’S BEEN THE SAME,

AND THAT TO THE REUNION YOU’RE GLAD YOU CAME!

Charlie Graham’s Poem from the 50th

Silver and Gold

Make new friends, but keep the old;
Those are silver, these are gold.
New-made friendships, like new wine,
Age will mellow and refine.
Friendships that have stood the test-
Time and change-are surely best;
Brow may wrinkle, hair grow gray;
Friendship never knows decay.
For 'mid old friends, tried and true,
Once more we our youth renew.
But old friends, alas! may die;
New friends must their place supply.
Cherish friendship in your breast-
New is good, but old is best;
Make new friends, but keep the old;
Those are silver, these are gold
